Gary F. Tharp, 78, of Shoals, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Franciscan Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born November 4, 1944, in Shoals, he was the son of Wayne and Ilean (Potts) Tharp.
Gary attended Shoals High School.
He worked as a farmer and logger. Gary was an excellent finger style guitarist, could emulate Chet Atkins style of playing, and was also known for playing music with his brother Marvin. He enjoyed playing music with his friends at the Shoals Nazarene Church sing alongs.
Surviving are his sister, Sharon Blake; niece, Stacey Crowder; nephew, Jeffrey Roberts; great-niece, Annie Blunk; great-nephew, Jeffrey Crowder; and 2 great-great-nieces, Hailee and Gracelyn Blunk.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Shirley Todd, Marvin Tharp, and Juanita Tharp; and brother-in-law, John Blake.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 on Friday, May 5, 2023 at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care, with Kevin Quinn officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 A.M. until the service hour on Friday at Queen-Lee Chapel, Shoals.
